A trusted dealer, or TD, is a seller the RepTime community has vetted and keeps watching. The label matters for exactly one reason: a moderator can take it away. Everything else written about trusted dealers follows from that.
The short answer
The TD list lives on the r/RepTime subreddit wiki and is maintained by its moderators. This site is not the subreddit and does not run that list. What we publish here is the criteria the list is built on, so you can apply them to any seller yourself instead of waiting for a badge.
A designation nobody can revoke was never a designation. That is the whole test.
What trusted dealer actually means
It depends entirely on who is doing the trusting. A community list with published criteria and a moderator who removes sellers is a real signal, because the designation is conditional and somebody is watching. The same two words printed by a shop about itself are decoration.
The test is quick. Ask where the designation is recorded, and ask who can take it away. If the answer to the second question is nobody, you are reading marketing.
This applies to us as much as to anyone. We are a shop, and we say so at the foot of every page. Read the five tests below and apply them to us with the same suspicion you would apply to any other seller.
The five tests
These are the questions the community argues about, reduced to the five that actually predict how a purchase goes. Any dealer worth your money answers all five in writing, before you pay.

A published warranty, with its scope
Not a duration on its own. Six months covering the movement only, with postage both ways at your cost, is a very different promise from two years on the whole watch. Scope is where the money is.

Photographs of your actual watch
Before it ships, not from a catalogue. A seller holding no stock cannot photograph your specific piece on request, which makes this the fastest test of whether a shop is real.

A payment route you can reverse
The check that survives every other mistake. A discount offered for an irreversible method is the seller putting a price on your protection, and it is almost always a bad trade.

The factory named in writing
In this market the workshop decides the build and the name on the dial decides only the shape. A quote that will not say which factory made it is a quote you cannot compare.

A public record you can read
Threads, reviews, complaints and how they were handled. A mixed record is normal and informative. No record at all is the harder one to judge, because it usually means the shop is new or the name changed recently.
Where the list lives, and where it does not
The maintained list is on the r/RepTime subreddit wiki. Copies circulate on other sites and in screenshots, and they go stale quickly because sellers are added and removed on a schedule nobody publishes. If you are reading a list that carries no date, treat it as history rather than advice.

Why most trusted dealer claims are worthless
Search the phrase and you will find dozens of shops describing themselves as trusted dealers. Almost none of them say by whom. The badge is a graphic on their own page, awarded by the person selling you the watch.
That is not always dishonest. Plenty of competent sellers have never applied to any list, and absence from one means unproven rather than untrustworthy. But a self-awarded badge carries no information at all, and treating it as evidence is how people lose money to shops that look established.
How to check any dealer in five minutes
- Read the warranty page, not the banner. Look for the scope and who pays postage on a claim. If neither is stated, price the watch as though it has no warranty.
- Ask for a photograph of the exact piece. Not the model, the piece. Note how long the answer takes.
- Ask which factory built it. In writing. A seller who cannot answer is reselling without knowing what they hold.
- Ask what happens if you want to send it back. Who pays the postage, which courier, and what condition it has to be in.
- Choose the payment route last. Once the four answers above are in a message you can keep, pick the method you can reverse.
If a seller answers all five clearly and quickly, the badge stops mattering. That is the point of having criteria rather than a list.
