Why VSF and nobody else
Omega uses Co-Axial escapements, which are mechanically different from a standard Swiss lever and visible through the display caseback. VSF clones the 8800 and 8500 Co-Axial architecture. Other factories fit a standard movement and hope the caseback is never examined. If a Seamaster has a display back, the movement behind it is part of the purchase.
What to check
- Wave dial depth. Angle the photograph. The waves should catch light and move as the angle changes. A flat, printed pattern is the fastest tell on this model.
- Helium escape valve at 10 o’clock. Machined and defined, not a glued disc.
- Ceramic bezel with enamel numerals. The numerals are filled into the ceramic, so they sit flush. Printed-on numerals sit proud and catch a fingernail.
- Skeleton hands and lume. The Diver 300M hands are openworked with lume inserts. The edges should be sharp.

Before it ships
Each Seamaster spends 24 to 48 hours on a timegrapher and we check the bezel click count and helium valve seating by hand. We photograph the dial under raking light so the wave engraving depth is verifiable before you approve.
