Red ceramic is denser in tone than yellow, and the Unico movement below the open dial reads differently against it. The column wheel at 12 anchors the dial, but the red case pulls the pushers at 2 and 4 toward the bezel and makes them harder to separate from the case at a distance. The flyback architecture is the same as Yellow Magic, but the result is more unified and harder to read across a room.

4 stars… This was a replacement for an older rep I wore for years, and the Big Bang Unico Red Ceramic feels more solid on the wrist. The integrated bezel screws look cleaner, and the sandwich case construction gives it a better layered look. Case weight is right where I wanted it too. Only small nitpick is the strap took a little breaking in… next purchase will be another Hublot piece.

At first I figured this Red Ceramic would look a little off once it was in hand, but I was wrong. The integrated bezel screws are nicely done, and that detail goes a long way toward the overall look. Compared with photos of the genuine, it has the right stance and presence for the money, enough that I was comfortable giving it as a gift. the watch arrived with the kind of look that makes you do a double take. He opened it, put it on right away, and that was that. I’d buy again without hesitation.
