The 421 with the 5170 dial puts a lighter face inside the case architecture. This is the opposite approach from the all-black variants of the same series. A lighter dial makes the bezel layer read as a frame rather than a continuation of the face. The NX case material has its own surface texture, distinct from ceramic or steel. On a Big Bang, dial contrast shifts where the eye lands first.
