The griffes at 3 and 9 are the first detail to check. They run from the case into the bezel and the fit must be tight. On the black dial, the Roman numerals sit engraved into the fluted bezel against dark lacquer. The contrast between bezel and dial is sharper here than on lighter dials. At arm’s length, the bezel commands more attention than the dial. Check the claw depth first.

- Water resistance. The genuine reference is rated to 50 metres. This build is not pressure tested. Treat it as splash resistant and keep it out of the pool.
