Single Red refers to the text on the dial: “Sea-Dweller” printed in red on a black dial. It is a detail you read from a metre away before you read anything else on the face. The Sea-Dweller is thicker than a Submariner, with no cyclops over the date. Check the red printing first: the text must be crisp and the red must be consistent, with no blotching at the letterform edges.

- Water resistance. The genuine reference is rated to 1,220 metres. This build is not pressure tested. Treat it as splash resistant and keep it out of the pool.
