The Racing Black uses a black main dial, which reduces the contrast between the sub-dials and the chapter ring. On a Speedmaster chronograph, that contrast matters: lower contrast reads as more uniform and less busy from a distance. The tachymetric bezel and three registers are the same as the standard Racing. In direct sunlight the black dial absorbs rather than reflects. This is the Racing for someone who wants the automatic movement and a quieter face.

Where this build differs from the original
- Movement. A cloned movement built to the architecture of the original, not a genuine factory calibre. VSF Factory is the credible producer, because of the Co-Axial escapement. Ask us which calibre is in the build currently in stock.
- Water resistance. The genuine reference is rated to 50 metres. This build is not pressure tested. Treat it as splash resistant and keep it out of the pool.

Arrived and opened it this morning, and the ceramic bezel and dial finish were the first things I checked. Both are excellent, with a crisp look that beats my last rep by a good margin. The black-on-black presentation feels balanced and serious. Hard to argue with this at the price.
