The grey dial on this Patek Philippe 5712 places all four complications on a dark slate field. It comes on a black leather strap. The moon phase disc at six reads as a separate object against the grey: it stands out more sharply than on a blue surface. The small seconds and the power reserve arc recede into the space between them. Across a room this reads as a plain, cool toned watch. Up close the complications reveal themselves one at a time. That reversal is the point of this version.

Compared with the genuine 5712, this watch gets surprisingly close in the way it sits on the wrist. The thinness is the first thing I noticed, and the hand finishing is better than I expected at this price. It wears neatly under a cuff and doesn’t feel overdone for everyday use. My only mild nitpick is that the packaging felt a bit plain for a piece at this level — the watch itself is the real highlight. Very happy overall, and it’s been easy to wear day in, day out.

4 stars! The thin profile really stands out, and the applied indices look crisp in person. It has that proper wrist presence without feeling bulky at all. Only slight gripe: the box was nothing special. I’d buy again.
