The sub-dials define the layout; without them, the face reads as undifferentiated gold. In low light, the gold dial deepens and the three registers hold their definition. Where this build differs from the original
- Movement. A cloned 4130, not a genuine Rolex calibre. It reproduces the architecture of the original and it runs a working chronograph, which is the point of the reference.
- Case metal. The genuine reference is 18k yellow gold. This build is plated over steel, which is why it costs what it costs. Solid metal builds exist and are priced accordingly.
- Water resistance. The genuine reference is rated to 100 metres. This build is not pressure tested. Treat it as splash resistant and keep it out of the pool.

The Oyster bracelet has a really solid, smooth feel to it, and it sits on the wrist in a way that just works for everyday use. Bought this from a local source after comparing a few options, and for a daily wear piece it’s doing exactly what I wanted. The cyclops magnification is clear and easy to read at a glance, which matters more than I expected. The date jumps out nicely without looking exaggerated.
The glide-lock clasp is a big plus too. It feels secure, adjusts smoothly, and makes the watch fit better through the day instead of feeling stuck in one position. For me, that’s the kind of detail that decides whether a watch gets worn often or sits in a drawer.
