White dial on yellow gold is the closest this generation gets to high contrast: the main dial reflects light at a cooler temperature than the warm case and bezel around it. The three sub-dials break the white field. The engraved yellow gold tachymetric bezel runs warm against the cool white face, and the gap between those two tones is visible from a distance. On the Oyster bracelet, the white dial holds that contrast point across the full bracelet length.

Where this build differs from the original
- Movement. A cloned 4130, not a genuine Rolex calibre. It reproduces the architecture of the original and it runs a working chronograph, which is the point of the reference.
- Case metal. The genuine reference is 18k yellow gold. This build is plated over steel, which is why it costs what it costs. Solid metal builds exist and are priced accordingly.
- Water resistance. The genuine reference is rated to 100 metres. This build is not pressure tested. Treat it as splash resistant and keep it out of the pool.

Bought this from a UK watch forum after a fair bit of reading around, and it’s turned out better than I expected for something I wanted to wear day to day.
