The 5205 places the annual calendar through apertures across the top of the dial: day, month, and moonphase in three windows, with a separate date aperture lower on the dial. This differs from the 5396 sector sub-dials. Rose gold against a black dial produces high contrast. The calendar windows cut into a black field, which makes them stand out clearly. Rose gold hands and the case tone soften the contrast at the edges. The 5205 is the Complications reference for a buyer who prefers aperture displays to sub-dial hands.
