Could this really feel special enough for a birthday gift? Yes, it did. I was expecting a bit of a letdown, but the rose gold case and the ceramic bezel have a proper rich look to them, not flashy in a cheap way. On the wrist it has serious presence without looking silly, and that was exactly what I wanted for a present. The only small gripe is the box was a bit plain. When he opened it, he just sat there grinning and said it looked fantastic.

Would it feel awkward or top-heavy? Not at all. I was expecting the weight to be off, but this watch sits surprisingly well and doesn’t flop around on the wrist. It has enough presence to feel like a serious piece, which made it a good gift. The only nitpick is the bracelet took a minute to settle in. For the money, the balance and overall feel are better than I expected.
