White shows more than any other dial colour. On the Chronomat, a white ground means every index, sub-dial ring, and rider tab must be precise. Any variation in the printing is immediately visible. Check the three sub-dial rings first: each edge must be sharp against the white ground. Then look along the rouleaux bracelet. The bracelet reads brighter against a white dial, so any link that breaks the uniform rounded profile is easy to find.
