Black is the Navitimer dial that requires the most careful inspection. The printed slide rule numerals disappear at low magnification. Use a loupe to check the inner ring numerals first: each figure must hold a sharp edge. Under a lamp, look for uneven ink density across both rings. The bezel alignment test is harder on a dark dial because gaps are visible only under direct light, not in ambient conditions. The three sub-dial registers must each hold a clean print boundary against the black ground.
