The Paul Newman designation refers to the dial format. The dial carries an additional inner track inside each sub-dial register, and the typography differs from the standard Daytona layout. On a yellow gold case with a black Cerachrom bezel, the textured sub-dials add a graphic density that a plain dial does not carry. The Oysterflex keeps the profile flat. Compared to the standard 116518LN dial, this one has more to read up close and reads differently from a distance.

Where this build differs from the original
- Movement. A cloned 4130, not a genuine Rolex calibre. It reproduces the architecture of the original and it runs a working chronograph, which is the point of the reference.
- Case metal. The genuine reference is 18k yellow gold. This build is plated over steel, which is why it costs what it costs. Solid metal builds exist and are priced accordingly.
- Water resistance. The genuine reference is rated to 100 metres. This build is not pressure tested. Treat it as splash resistant and keep it out of the pool.

Arrived and opened it the same day… first impression was strong. The ceramic bezel has a clean look and the finish is very convincing under different light, not cheap or overly glossy. The cyclops magnification is right where I wanted it, making the date easy to read without looking exaggerated. Weight balance is good as well; it sits evenly and doesn’t feel awkward at all on the wrist. For a collector, that matters more than people think. I’m already planning my next purchase.

5 stars, easy! This was my first time buying one of these and I’m relieved I took the chance. The Oyster bracelet feels properly solid on the wrist, smooth enough for all-day wear but with that snug, confident fit I wanted for a daily piece. Packaging was spot on too — the box and papers gave it a proper presentation right out of the gate. It has that wrist presence without feeling over the top, which is exactly what I was after.
